Barry Irwin is an Academic torn between the trials and tribulations of Systems Administration, and the Fun and excitement that is Research. He currently heads up the Security and Networks Research Group (SNRG) within the Department of Computer Science at Rhodes University, where he holds the position of Senior Lecturer.
Current areas of research interest are
- The use and applications of Network Telescopes
- High speed packet Processing for security analysis
- Information Security Education
- Security Metrics
Hobbies include raising his daughters, and collecting old bits of computing hardware to fill up his garage.
Barry is a CISSP and currently completing his PhD.
